    There’d be no Drive without The Driver. Another low key Walter Hill classic. A stylistic bridge, exiting the cinema of the 70s in the direction of the 80s schlock.

    “There is only the desert for you.” 

    Subversive in a lot of ways, starting with the choice to make TE Lawrence some kind of dandy colonial officer. Nevertheless, it feels like an archetypal John Ford western shot against the complex geopolitics of a region in transition. One might make the argument that this is the epic film from which all other epic films come from.
