Gladiator 2000
Revisiting a story I’ve wanted to shoot led me to a rewatch of this. It’s sort of an interesting one to follow up Conclave with, I feel they share some similar themes to one another. Neither is exactly related to what I’m outlining, but the way they explore those themes through character elicits something very specific to me that I’m trying to capture.

Das Boot 1981
35mm director’s cut screening @ The Academy Museum.
Feels like kind of a wild movie to be watching right now but wow was it impressive, all 3 1/2 hours of it. Having no knowledge of this film at all, I had no idea where things were headed. I was reminded of my experience watching Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World and wondering the entire time just how could a film like this ever be shot. Just too much to comment on, I gotta let this one sit with me for a while.
