Animation is phenomenal. Source material needs some work.

I am not a big musical guy, but the music was not the reason I didn’t enjoy this movie. The entire plot centers around animals being displaced and silenced in society. The reason? “People need to band together around a common enemy.” But there’s no conflict, everyone is singing and dancing for the entire 2 hours and 40 minutes. No idea how they’re gonna milk this in the sequel. Movie was way too long and force fed the same basic ass…

“Goon” (2011) is an excellent example of the hero’s journey. Doug Glatt starts as a bouncer feeling out of place in his intellectual family. His call to adventure comes when he’s discovered for his fighting skills and joins a hockey team. With guidance from his coach and seasoned player Ross Rhea, Doug faces various challenges, culminating in a climactic showdown with Rhea. This battle symbolizes his ultimate test and transformation. By the end, Doug finds his true self and gains respect, illustrating the hero’s journey of self-discovery and acceptance.
