The Killer 2023
I thought I was going to watch a movie about a dude killing people but it turned out that I watched a film about how capitalism is consuming our humanity through the gig economy. Maybe detached introspective sociopathy is the only reasonable way to exist in a world where our relationship with space and each other is just managed through proxies.
If I give this movie 4/5 stars, does someone who worked on it get fired?

Still timeless (except for the haircuts), and the 70mm only makes it more so -- everything seemed larger and sharper than on DVD. Bizarre watching in a theater, too, with unfamiliar newbies giggling at HAL 9000 dying and then walking out confused. "It's a series of vignettes," explained someone who thought she got it, "They're not related except for thematically." "Oh, like Full Metal Jacket!" her friend exclaimed. I wanted to take them out to dinner and ask them what was up with the giant baby.

Finally watched this movie because of the 2023 Ohio train derailment, which is surreal given what the movie turned out to be about. Like my own experience of reality itself is postmodern now. It's almost *too* on the nose.
