Best comic book movie that exists, bar none. So many iconic moments and scenes, rewatching it feels like visiting an old friend. I love it to pieces every single time and no part of it gets old

Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves 2023
Fucking incredible, especially as a huge DnD nerd. Sure they play kinda fast and loose with the rules here but it’s so much fun I can give it the “rule of cool” pass.
Worst things about it both unfortunately surround Doric: her having an absolutely terrible and lacking Tiefling design, and the super unnecessary romantic subplot between her and Simon.
Otherwise hilarious and I could see a one shot or maybe a few sessions of a campaign going down this…

The Substance 2024
Self hatred, addiction, and horrible beauty standards come to life in this disturbing horror movie, which ended up being way grosser than I expected, and I expected it to be REALLY gross.
So upsetting and stomach churning, but that’s just how affective its effects, story, and performances are.
Also really funny at times! Jokes but also intentionally campy moments that either were referencing or at least in the style of some really classic horror films. Just so well done and executed.
Really can’t think of more to say now, maybe check back for an edit later, in summary, VERY very good.

Saturday Night 2024
This was exactly as funny as it needed to be to work. A messy almost real time 90 minutes was of course going to try and cram in as many things and cameos and jokes as possible so it’s kind of impressive that it actually landed.
Pretty self aggrandizing (“no one will remember you” type moments) and an incredibly off base portrayal of Jim Henson (did they forget that he made Muppets Sex and Violence and fought tooth and nail…
