Solid film with good performances but nothing about this film stands out as “best of the year”. It’s being compared to both “pretty woman” and “uncut gems “ but in my opinion this film lacks both the magic of the first and the real sense of consequence in the second. It could have done with a shocking ending a la “Uncut Gems”. I gotta stop listening when folks tell me a movie is the best they’ve seen all year, I’m always disappointed.
I couldn’t with the last 20 minutes of this movie. In my mind in 2 months later Anne Hathaway’s character realizes her husband is a huge fucking loser- dumps him and spends her weekends with her daughter, Bobby D and his new girl.
This gem of a film hits you where it hurts and hard. Early on I found my self crying silent tears as I watched the absolute isolation and loneliness of these three main characters as they struggle to connect. Theres beauty in this film and many quiet moments where as the viewer I felt I was intruding on the private moments one has when they believe they are alone. Not to worry, the viewer isn't the only one dabbling in…
I thought 75% of the movie was him trying to kill the burglars based off of clips of the film I’d seen over the years. Like he’s at the grocery store, giving some old guy advice in church. I was surprised ,but pleasantly so. Also his family are fucking assholes.
