...so THIS is what my dad means when he says he wishes I was raised in the Philippines! Lol.
Dark, niche joke aside -- I really, really enjoyed this and feel spiritually connected in some way to this character. What an observation on the dynamics of the Filipino patriarchy, and how it subconsciously influences Bona's desires. So much to keep unpacking here.
Also, what a delicate and perfectly executed balance of comedy amid such intense subject matter.
I love how vivacious the world is and what everyone has to say. Editing/pacing was dope too.

There are things I can appreciate about the film, like the story and weight of being the bearer of your family's happiness and wellbeing, or at least thinking that you are. The feeling of being caught in a loop, the struggle of being content with what you have but wanting more (and feeling bad about it, damn).
