The 2nd half of this was very funny but your heart does break for Ani in the end. I thought Mikey Madison was great, and so was Yura Borisov! It’s a littleeeee long imo but otherwise I enjoyed it. Not a new favourite or my pick for best picture but I think Sean Baker makes interesting & unique films and it’s cool to see him get that recognition with this one.

a perfect family dramedy. in love with the little quirks for each character, the tangled bras & goofy love interests…just a sweet & silly movie I thoroughly enjoyed. also food as a love language from a father to his 3 daughters? beautifully done.

Between this and Imaginur, maybe Malaysian film is healing. I really enjoyed this. sorry but this was actually kinda disappointing? 😭 I see the potential…I really like the playful animation style and the themes on friendships, art, and growing up. I just feel like they wanted to build to emotional damage but for me, there just simply wasn’t enough time/material to form a strong bond these characters. also wtf was that slideshow ass montage near the end? it threw me off so bad. maybe I expected too much from a movie that’s under an hour but I truly feel like it could’ve still packed a punch with a more organised story(?)
