How do you talk about a work of art that has meant so much to you? Something that has affected you in so many ways? A seminal film that completely changed how you look at film as a medium? Religion, specifically Catholicism and horror have always been entwined in their mythology to evoke fear and revulsion since The Exorcist. Midnight Mass perfectly captures the heightened fear of mystery, fear of defeat, and fear of death that religion primarily thrives upon through the vessel of one wiry priest Hamish Linklater and his deeply disturbed eyes.

Everyone who didn’t like this movie is allergic to fun!!! i watched this in theaters and could not stop laughing. The nonchalant priest at the funeral scenes was my favorite part. There were so many funny deaths that just didn’t make sense (ex. the girl in the pool exploding instead of getting electrocuted when electricity hit the water) and stupidity funny plot points like Bill realizing him and Hal share the same mother even though they’re twins 😭😭 i had such a good time and everyone who watches this should if they don’t take it too seriously

My main gripe with the movie was that it felt like they lingered way too long on sex worker/pimp/john politics to the…
