    Cheap home invasion slasher that barely manages to sustain itself for twenty minutes before turning completely ridiculous. Very thin, and the comedic baiting of the killer's identity is not enough to make up for a complete lack of suspense or horror.

    Was not prepared for how much this plays like gay Vertigo. The call-to-action is even given with a backdrop of a shipping port like in that film! First half is basically perfect; second half cat-and-mouse section is a little less exciting to me, but still very good.

    I suppose when I put a score as extreme as this at the start of a review, I should begin by providing a brief counterweight to it. By most standards, Free Guy is a mediocre film. It has a clear narrative, with a cute, solid romance plot, featuring occasionally likeable performances (would perhaps even venture to say Jodie Comer is good in this) and occasionally ugly, yet primarily run-of-the-mill, editing and cinematography.

    Certainly worth your time. Worth watching on a phone in my opinion as that seems to be what the filmmakers intended. Got super immersed into this one perhaps because of that and while maybe not particularly groundbreaking narratively, I was enraptured by just how authentic this all is.
