  for a film that aims to be a memory in a jar it does little to frame or reflect, aiming instead to simply preserve and present as if that is enough to communicate anything of substance or note.

  all the horror in this relies on sustaining a dark and eerie vibe, but unfortunately this is continuously slashed with moments of absurdity and humor — it’s playing at being a serious film but it’s just a slapstick plot under an arthouse horror sheen — the combination isn’t additive, it cancels out 

  trying so hard to have a Twin Peaks-y ‘Bob’ like villain, but missed that the essential part of the terror there is the unknown, the undefined — everything…
