I’ve read that, in real life, politics doesn’t resemble West Wing; it resembles Veep. This movie hilariously (tragically?) captures the wisdom of that statement. The opening and closing scenes are two of my favorites but the entirety is sprinkled with laugh-out-loud funny scenes and quips.
One small thing I liked (and that reminds me some of Jojo Rabbit) is the way that it captures and mocks the eye-rolling performative gestures of loyalty. Those closer to power perform these gestures with disdain and out of fear while those farther from power often do so out of a truer sense of loyalty.

Plot is interesting at face value but execution left much to be desired. Writing is suspect - feels cliche-reliant - and the overall character ensemble is bewildering. None of the characters bring out more interesting aspects in the other characters, despite some theoretically interesting individuals (“man behind the curtain” bank CEO; Spec ops turned lawman rookie FBI agent; career heartland detective). It felt like they didn’t take the line about “everybody thinks they’re the good guy” seriously with the ‘bad…
