"Tropical Malady" seems to be a metaphor for human passion in its wildest and most uncontrollable form, as if it were instinctively rooted in us, beyond reason. It's a Wonderful Life 1946
Americans! Either they bombard us with beatings, harshness and violence, or life on planet Earth is a sea of flowers. This could be an interpretation but... we can also see the film as anti-system, anti-capitalism and I really like it despite the pompous way in which the story is told to us, like a Saturday afternoon movie. I'm not sure what the intention is but we are free (still are) to interpret.

Once again, a story of injustice and political persecution in the name of "freedom" in America. A trial marked by contradictions, inconsistencies and xenophobia. Even today it continues to be like this in the neo-liberal and conservative (it seems contradictory) North American system. A true story very well told and interpreted, tremendously dramatic.
