I wasn't as enamored with it as the first time I saw it, but I still think it's pretty underappreciated in Bergman's filmography. The big four all give really good performances. Ullman and. Von Sydow have some really great scenes together and their chemistry here is what makes the film real good. And it's certainly one of Bergman's better looking films. Sometimes I got bored with the story but then there were always parts that ended up roping me back in. It's still in my top 5.

I feel like it really tries to go against the grain and do something different, but it isn't all that effective for me. I think the camera shots were poor decisions that don't really help us to feel like we are a part of the film. Which is crazy because that's probably why the director tried to do that in the first place. The acting seems pretty good but it was hard to really feel for any of the characters.…
