Calling Miyazaki a fascist apologist is unfair on all counts. However it seems like he wants to have his cake and eat it too. 2001: A Space Odyssey 1968
It tells a lot about this film that whenever you see a “beauty of cinema” video or go to a video/movie museum, they ALWAYS show scenes from this as an example of visual storytelling and the power of cinema. This is the purest form of cinema ever. I want to experience the film on mute just to appreciate the visual storytelling but then I’ll miss the emaculate sound design
