Could have been titled Survivor: Vatican City.

Always suspected Eve to be the most OP character in Invincible. Like she says, she “can rearrange everything at an atomic level”!

Can’t believe I let this movie flew under my radar for so long! Typical audiences used to the formulaic structure and storytelling of Indonesian supernatural/“in-your-face” horror won’t find this interesting I’m afraid. But if you enjoy strange, obscure atmospheric horrors (my mind goes to the likes of Benson/Moorhead and Saulnier) I’m confident you’ll be pleased. I wish the “top” movie stars of Indonesia can act like the cast of this film: subtle, believable, and most important of all, enough. No “drama class” acting, which makes this a gratifying experience.

I came in expecting a lot and I got some, but… making Oki Rengga the dramatic centerpiece just didn’t work. His performance is painstakingly try-hard acting with little to no subtlety. Indra Jegel is severely underused. The pacing is what bothers me the most though. It’s like this is a comedic film that wants to have dramatic moments, but the dramatic moments are just not doing it because it just comes off as too rehearsed. Overall still an enjoyable film but if I see it again I would probably just fast forward the dramatic parts.

And the product placement! Some subtlety, anyone??
