The Umbrellas of Cherbourg 1964
It’s harder for me to rank older films. I haven’t figured out how much to penalize a movie for elements which have aged poorly, or how much to reward a film simply for aging well.
In my opinion, Umbrellas of Cherbourg has aged very well. The final scene is so raw and powerful that it will stick with me permanently. The music still sounds great and the movie is one of the most visually striking films I’ve ever seen.

Everything Everywhere All at Once 2022
The fact this movie works at all is a miracle, and the fact it works as well as it does demands a second and probably third rewatch.
Ultimately, I think the sheer ambition and scope of the film prevent it from finding a perfectly satisfying conclusion for me. The journey is worth a whole lot more though.
