This feels like a sort of feminist manifest. Equal parts satire and earnest indignation, this is truly an original piece of art. It took some time getting used to the fast-paced documentary-like style, but in the end I must admit it was pretty great!

This was a pretty unique and unsettling film. Definitely a lot more grimy than the usual coming-of-age film. It felt a bit like a crossover of Napoleon Dynamite and Gummo. While it was at times hard to enjoy, I admire what it tries to do, and I quite liked the aesthetic - the colorful cinematography, the soundtrack and the odd combination of deadpan and over-the-top acting.

Finally got to see this one, and I really liked it! The cinematography and editing were both incredibly slick, the score was amazing and so damn energetic, and the acting performances by Qualley and Moore were very impressive. Not to mention the insane makeup work and costume design. The story was pretty compelling as well, though I did find it a bit on the nose at times. I was also not the biggest fan of the final act, as I found it to be a bit too over-the-top to my taste. Nonetheless this was a very bold, and extremely well-crafted film!

The cinematography is really good in this film, and at first it felt pretty promising. Unfortunately it ends up falling flat with clunky dialogue, a really messy plot (especially the second half) and paper-thin characters. The film generally lacks the tension we see in the great detective films like "Se7en" or "Silence of the Lambs", and it never seems believable, that Woodley's character was supposed to be a former call girl and drug addict.
