very good character set up and beginning to the movie made me excited to get into it, as the *holiday with unexpected twists* trope can be really fun to watch, plus it looked very pretty throughout:)
but then it got a bit uneasy to watch with all the loud screams, hallucinations, drugs etc etc. and all the ott culty stuff just didn't click with me, it almost felt like they were making stuff fucked up for the sake of being gross rather than tradition
plus squeamish little ruben didn't like all the gore
