This is the quintessential 3-star movie. Feels like something you would watch on a movie day in a high school history class. The Last Samurai is largely clichéd and predictable, but it’s well-made and has enough mildly entertaining moments to avoid a lower rating. Learning a little bit about the history of the period was the main highlight of the movie for me.

Starship Troopers 1997
This movie had some horrendous special effects, and the overall production value reminded me of something you would see on the Disney Channel. It did, however, have some interesting political commentary and, more importantly, Denise Richards.
