The brutality was appropriate for a study of the violence of marginalization and colonization. The culminating girl power speech is a little too much in today's language, and didn't need to be so direct. By the end, it felt a little long. Otherwise, beautifully written and executed. I can't wait to see what Jennifer does next.

Strong characters. Great atmospherics. But ultimately a little bit thin and predictable.

Visually stunning and glorious as a series of photographs, but add the layer of melodramatic psychosexual strife and it's like being forced to watch your parents having sex.
