  Ghostbusters 1984

  Before watching, I prepared my seven-year-old son for how "scary" this movie is.

  In particular, the librarian ghoul at the movie's start had me holding in my pee until the morning light.

  This is a fun movie, punctuated by the Ray Parker Jr theme song, the dizzyness of product placements, the 1980s in general ,and all the Saturday Night Live alumni, stepping onto the Silver Screen.

  We immediately turned on Ghostbusters II but the magic dust had disappeared. The biggest plot point that had me confused was that it is set 5 years after the original and the Ghostbusters are broke and doing kid's parties.

  I felt so tense watching this. Genuinely stressful movie watching. Great 'cloak and dagger' lead up to meeting the Count. Skarsgård is terrifying & unrecognisable. Lily Depp really sent it - although she wore on me a bit in the end. She reminded me a bit of an off-brand Helena Bonham-Carter.

  Close to 4 stars, more like 3.8 🌟
