I love the themes of Bong Joon Ho’s films and commentary he makes about society’s flaws. In this one, he stuffed in so much commentary on different topics that were by no means subtle hits. I liked the goofiness of the film which I think was more present than his previous ones. This is a soap opera about ambition that takes place in a papal election AKA a conclave. Which brings me to my next point- I had to google a bunch of things so I don’t know how people watched this in a theatre without knowledge of the Catholic Church/popes. But I loved the drama!
