sweet, but felt like a romanization of a love story. just kind of glossed over some of the tougher parts of their story/lives and so heavily centered on florence pugh’s character that the ending felt predictable.

A Real Pain 2024
first hour of this movie was just okay, both main characters seemed like caricatures, the funny moments weren’t all that funny and the serious moments weren’t very serious and the symbolic moments felt overplayed.
the last half hour was significantly better- the characters felt more real, the interactions with the rest of the tour group seemed more sincere, and the gravity of their situation, both on the tour and in their lives, seemed more compelling.
also, didn’t realize the white lotus guy is actually british and thought he was doing an annoyingly bad accent until i looked it up after oops
