Torture porn or commentary?

Honestly idk, but I felt like it was a commentary on American tourists being assholes, sexuality, and fetishization. I fear I have to give a star just because Roth used Willow's Song from The Wicker Man in the sex scene which was actually really good foreshadowing 😭

This was so funny but the gore was smth 😭

I think she should've had a girlfriend...

Seriously though. Great movie focusing on such a strong protagonist. Especially when boxing movies were primarily focused on White males

Honestly what a movie. It is such a horrific event in American history and Chinonye Chukwu just does a phenomenal job. It was heart-wrenching, spine chilling, and blood curdling. The cinematography is so well done and the soundtrack elevates the message. Above all though, the acting is what made this movie so powerful. Everyone's acting is great but Danielle Deadwyler just dominated the movie. From the intro scene she excels. Her facial expressions, her sobs, her uncontrollable anger and sadness is so well-done. She deserved an Oscar for her performance.
