Stunning cinematography, intoxicating music, and a couple great chatacters, but a story that didn't hold me with an overabundance of cruel behavior that didn't always feel rounded by the script. Doesn't rise to the level of other Wong Kar Wai films, at least for me.

The beautiful Iowa cinematography, and one particularly strong visual and narrative stretch—from the bird call up through the extended beach scene—made this a fun and engaging watch. But first and foremost I was taken by the beautiful shots depicting the traversal of Iowa landscapes. It was cool to see a local debut, and a fun night.
