  I scoffed at how quickly this movie introduced every trope and premise within six minutes of the title sequence, but the Sphere had tricked me. Far from reaching cruising altitude, this movie STARTS at 30,000 feet and just keeps piling on completely delightful nonsense for two hours.

  All-star cast phones it in. Congrats to Hoffman, Schreiber, Stone, and Jackson on the beach house down payments they got from this work, which could be re-released unchanged today and marketed as a parody.

  I enjoyed the submarines, Queen Latifah, and everybody bullying Liv Schreiber, but if you're looking for shape-oriented sci fi stick with the Cube series tbh.
