The Peasants 2023
It’s definitely an artistic achievement, or, at least, I appreciate how strongly they committed to the oil painting aesthetic a la ‘Loving Vincent’. However, I did find it very distracting. The music and the dance sequences were the high point. The story itself is dark and unnecessarily intense and abusive. It seemed that our only intention was to harp on the main character. The actress was great, but christ they put her through a lot.
