  This film is great for about 3/4ths of it. The mood and lack of dialogue are fantastic. Near the end the plot tries to wrap up in a now common horror grief/overcoming narrative — it’s a mediocre ending. That said, most of the movie swings for the fences.

  Can you give a movie 10 stars? My guiltiest pleasure is David Lynch’s terribly imperfect and yet perfectly compelling masterpiece. I love it. The new one is better but it has the benefit of having has this movie as a playbook.
