It just doesn't take off the way I was hoping. A nice fucked up ending would have sold me higher, but instead we get the sappy , "learn something" ending. It couldn't decide between dark comedy or drama and suffered for it. Save for a rental. Denzel is great and so are ruxin's wife's tits.

Epic, interesting and I think I like it. I think I need to see it a couple more times to decide but this is the most interesting film of the year. Great performances and a great soundtrack help move a long a large and expansive story, but there was something that held me back from totally enjoying it.

The Duplass brothers never disappoint me. I love that their characters are so tragically human and are just trying to find their place in the world. They do always find some kind of redemption for themselves, but we never know for certain they will and it seems to always be rewarding with this conclusion particularly satisfying. Watch it.

Really fun, whacky and sadistic. Walken is Walken. Farrell is good as the straight man. Sam Rockwell is just nuckin futs and in a very good way. A good time at the movies.
