There’s a lot to say about this movie. From the teardown of the hypermasculine fantasy and glorification of the old west and its outlaws, to the brilliantly written dark grey area protagonist, this is certainly one of Eastwood’s finest. The moment when Munny hits the whiskey bottle after battling to maintain his reformation in the face of the bounty killing the whole movie, transforming back into the ruthless murderer of his youth, is one of the most perfectly executed climaxes…
