As a BIG fan of the novel, I wanted so badly to be surprised by this adaptation. Now that the initial satisfaction of finally getting to watch something I've been waiting for has worn off, I'm feeling more convinced that the adaptation is .. a bit of a flop.

If I had a Letterboxd account in 2021 I’d be logging this as at least a sixth rewatch.
1. The whole outdoors scene with Tilda Swinton and Hernan 2 is exceptional. Hernan 2 calmly scales fish, holds stone and tells the stories embedded within it, dies for 10 minutes and says it’s ok.
2. I love all the noisy chairs.
