  The addition after the actual end of the short story was not needed. I felt like it was too severe of an escalation in terms of plot and also invalidated the messages that were being told in the first 3/4. If that ending didn’t exist, I would’ve thought that this was a fairly good adaptation of the story, and I like how Margot’s discomfort (and therefore the audience’s discomfort) was dealt with. The short story is at its strongest when it is uncomfortably and almost disturbingly real, so when the movie stuck with that, it was pretty successful.

Following
