Midnight Cowboy 1969
Much more realistic take on the cruelties of big city dreams and being on the fringe of society in NYC than some other movies. Amazing mix of tragedy, aesthetics, and bonding. Finished it feeling greatful and grounded. I do feel that the flashbacks never really clarified themselves or properly fed into the story, but it's easy to move on from them as a viewer.

Could've easily watched 4 hours of this. Slow paced appreciation of everyday beauties in the city. Subtle hearwarming communication between family, coworkers, and strangers. I only wish it was longer so I got to see more of the characters' stories.

Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas 1998
Unlike anything else, surreal and real. I really like that the main character thinks of himself as a journalist, having him as our story teller made everything somewhat more sensible and heavy. Very funny moments balanced out by some pretty serious ones. In general its the production quality, design, and subtle visceral touches on the makeup that make this entire movie have substance and suspend your disbelief.
