I liked this film quite a lot. It reminds me of a lot of French Horror films such as Martyrs, Titane, and Possession (1981) much more than it recalls David Cronenburg's films to me, which it is often compared to because of the body horror. The fact that the director, Coralie Fargeat is French can be seen in characteristics of the film, despite the film having an all American cast. This is one of my favorite films of all time. This is an epic black comedy-drama that tackles so many interesting topics, such as love, abuse, religion, upskirts, and cults, and is extremely fun and engaging while doing so. I couldn't stop watching and really want to see the full 6 hour version the director wanted to make originally.
Also Yu Honda is so definitely trans, when Yu said she likes dressing as a woman, I almost yelled "One of us" at the screen.
All in all, a complete masterpiece.
