  I don´t understand some film enthusiasts on here who knock Pre-Code Hollywood. I´m sorry but I just don´t. The Motion Picture Business has never been more exciting and filled with strong material for women than during the Pre-Code era. Cleopatra is a fine example of Pre-Code at it´s best.   Charming Pre-code from director Walter Lang starring Carole Lombard as the heiress who is forced to marry a man she doesn´t love, in order to save her father. She off course, has fallen head over heels in love with another man, that she met while on a cruise ship. Are there holes in this story? You bet! Does it matter? No. Because Carole Lombard is acting up a storm, looking oh-so pre-code glamorous. Louise Closser Hale as the grandmother is also very good in this one.
