The overall story is interesting but how the scenes are composed feel like they rely entirely on the effects work to make it interesting. It is admittedly cool to see Harryhausen's stop motion, but damn if some of the performances and screenwriting isn't wooden as hell.
The Medusa scene is pretty good though

Never thought it would end the way it did. Can't say it's a good ending exactly, but it is kinda ballsy for a kid's movie.
Production design is top notch, screenplay is just a series of events after the other though. Luckily, the cast rounds it out nicely.

There's a genuine air of sincerity somewhere around this movie, and I truly do appreciate that part of it. Ready or Not is a fucking blast. Imagine if Succession was a horror movie, that's kind of the pitch. First off, the performances: Samara Weaving is instantly likeable and charismatic, quite possibly immediately catapulted into top 10 scream queens by her performance alone; everyone else rounds out the cast really nicely, especially Adam Brody, Mark O'Brien and Andie MacDowell, who seems to be having a blast.
