Two cousins pay homage to their late grandmother with a trip to Poland to see the home she left after W.W.II and their divergent lives aren’t the only thing made apparent on their trip. A truly wonderful and charged performance by Kieran Culkin from Jesse Eisenberg’s well crafted screenplay makes this a must-watch film. Nominated for two Academy Awards.

Mississippi Burning 1988
Alan Parker’s masterpiece about the investigation into the disappearance/murder of 3 civil rights workers by KKK members of a Mississippi community. Frances McDormand and Gene Hackman give searing performances, both Oscar nominated, and had remarkable on screen chemistry. If one could adore a movie that’s a brutal watch, this is the one.

After Hours 1985
Low key, my favorite Scorsese film of all time. Captures the Lower Manhattan of the 80’s impeccably.
