  Solid, middle of the road 00s comedy. Can't think of anything that's aged poorly which was a nice surprise, and say what you want about America, but 8000 bucks gets you a hell of a lot of billboards

  Characters are so well humanised, and the little moments that develop them are seeded into the narrative perfectly to draw each storyline nicely to a close with significant development. There wasn't enough of Mary throughout, and I think her taking a more active mothering role, matching Paul's fathering role might have given her more screentime, rather than her grief counselling happening offstage with a hastily introduced sister
