Loved how open to interpretation certain moments in the film were. But honestly a bit more substance would've made for a more engaging viewing. I found myself dozing off at times, especially at the start of the film.
What I really appreciate about this film is how it was made and the visual style it employs. It really does feel straight out of the 70's in every way possible. But I fear this is a case of aesthetic over narrative…
Amazing through and through. I love what this film says about sudden change and how to cope with it. The final scene is so powerful; it literally gave me chills. I really appreciate the perspective the film has on our self worth and how we (incorrectly) believe it resides within our senses. I also think this film challenged me to see deafness in a new light.
So i put this film off for a while bcuz I wasn't in the best mental space when it was first released. People were calling it wildly depressing at times, so I took heed to their warnings and saved it for when I was ready for a film like this. I finally watched it and while it definitely had me cloudy eyed during a few scenes, I didn't love this.

This was AWESOME. Great monster flick that leaves a lot to the imagination. Also has a great fake out and tone shift in the midway point. What I love about this film is that it doesn't take itself too seriously yet creates some genuinely scary moments. A good time overall.
