Thomas Vinterberg honestly doesn’t miss, this is yet another film that on the surface appears to have a premise that’s quite mundane and straight forward.
But wow to use any of those descriptors after viewing the film would be extremely superficial. There’s so much beneath the surface here, how pain is numbed through various vices and how long term addiction can creep up so slowly and innocuously.
