Beauty and the Beast 1946
ive always loved this story so this is actual magic. the desperation of the beast is conveyed so well it’s almost uncomfortable. it’s so raw. to me this comes off as way more psychological thriller, stockholm syndromey, than I expected. absolutely love that.
im usually not a sucker for black&white so to the extent this had me hooked was something to note. The beast is genuinely captured so beautiful in black&white. basically crying diamonds. the jewlery. i could just watch…

୨⎯ i was really into this at the start but there’s so much filler before the climax of the movie. by the time the violence starts, you’re already fatigued from the hour of teen drama and sex.
sam as a director confuses me so much because it almost feels like he intentionally makes mediocre work. after i watch his stuff i’m so confused because his talent is there, he can create an interesting film and easily has the means to surround himself with good writers to elevate his work. it’s like he’s choosing to not take the extra step and is comfortable in mediocrity.⎯୧
