  Script: tops, though most turns were guessable.
  Actors: very good.
  Camera: very good.
  Directing: good.
  A dark film, but you can watch it in a good mood without it going away.

  It is useful to revisit the old masters occasionally to see what remains and what does not. This film does not. It is based on a play and looks like it, and it also retains the ridiculous and cliche-abundant acting style of those times. The star goes to the two old ladies.

  It was different than I expected on the basis of reviews, but not to the credit of it. The first part of the film was too long, some of the characters - although seen in an interesting way and still completely realistic - were overexploited to the point of predictability. The events might have proceeded a bit more logically at times. Some things were clear even without rubbing them in.
  So what are the four stars for? Everything else.

  Made of Honor 2008

  A nice romantic comedy, nothing spectacular, nothing obnoxious. Right twists at right places, no surprises, but hey, that's the genre. I like Michelle Monaghan a lot, but this is not necessarily her best film. A bit too much fun was had on the expense of the Scots for my taste, but not more than I can live with.
