I feel like you really need to have a strong connection to Burroughs, and maybe even have read the book, to really take something away from this. It felt like a difficult one to adapt, the whole thing didn’t quite come together as a movie for me.
Cronenberg managed to pull it off—probably just chose a better book to adapt. I did enjoy the whole jungle section though, including the CGI snake alarm system.

Made with love and care. Loads of puppets, classic storyboard serving the fanbase, bleep-bloop-blarp screens and countdowns. The director really understands and uses Giger’s design properly. We get a vagina with a rip cage stuck to the wall spitting acid and a slipery penis head Xenomorph emerging out of it. This movie might make young boys want to stay virgins for a little longer.
The movie takes place in the Budapest metro stations. Shoutout to all the hungarians who worked on this, including my boyfriend who planted tons of fresh cabbages and made them look rotten. He did what was best for the company.
