It’s been years since I’ve watched this movie, and it hits so much differently than it did when I was young. Though still, of course, a parody of all the Romero classics, I thought gave an awesome insight into the mundane grind that middle age can be for a lot of people. Sometimes we get stuck in ruts and it feels like the world has to end for us to get the shock to the system to want to change any of it. What an awesome movie.
Novel experiences can at times be put on a pedestal and revered. Eventually, they can become mundane and reviled for having fallen so far. Made at times, the worse, for the ego for wanting to be special when we can see the reflection of our mundanity staring us in the face daily. To become seen so keenly through the pedestal of our demise can be the exact thing that destroys us.
Nearly flawless movie that scrutinizes the brutality of becoming an adult and the glorious way in which hope shrivels into duty.
A beautiful movie constructed out of a bizarre conceit is my favorite combination! People often reflect on “mistakes” made and consider a painful outcome as a sign of the wrong path chosen. My Old Ass beautifully observes this sentiment and considers the weight and pain of living an “imperfect” life. It beautifully reminds us that a life worth living is full of love, thus opening us up to emotional highs and, unfortunately, lows. My Old Ass reminds us to embrace…
