The Penguin does for The Batman what Better Call Saul did for Breaking Bad. It turns one of its peripheral characters into the most interesting element of the story and in doing so far exceeds the original. A layered and captivating character study (of a truly despicable person) that isn't afraid to go where it needs to go. Very excited for the next Batman film even if only to see my man Oz on the big screen!

I did not love this unfortunately!
I respect its courage to be unconventional but there wasn't much I cared for outside of that. The stories that were imitating Dylan overtly felt very caricatured and dehumanizing (Christian Bale, Cate Blanchett) while the stories that were more abstractly related to Dylan felt kind of pointless to me. Especially Heath Ledger's character. Was the point of his story only to tell us Dylan was a misogynistic asshole to Sara while they were married?…
