Oliver 1983
Lino Brocka loves Spider-man.
There's something so visceral about the restraint (and creativity within that restraint) in Nick de Ocampo's use of actual film. The depiction of Oliver, and the unfiltered view of his environment feels so raw. The pacing, the narrative, the shots, the players in Oliver's life—so wonderful and no additives.
This film isn't just about Oliver either, but how all of us trek on as the world burns around us. Yet, we dance and we laugh and we're made to pay for things that are already ours.
I don't know what else to say except how well-crafted this story of survival is.

I love rich kids who "don't know how to be poor" (this is literally one of the main plot points), in-your-face advertising (what the hell even was that San Marino advertisement where it's literally just the logo on the side of the truck which takes up half the screen as Vic Sotto drives in his car), and a fourth wall…
