Wouldn't expect less from Nolan. Execution of the storyline is perfectly matches with his previous work, so little preparation before watching this one might be helpful to understand the first half. Since the movie is based on real events that occurred between WW2 and the Cold War, there are numerous widely known personalities whom I believe should at least be heard about to catch the story faster.
