  like most masterpieces, i find it hard to write about the diacarnates. obayashi keeps experimenting with color and deals with memories existing alongside the present in ways equally as magical as his motorbike, her island (like how the bike flashback resembles warping photographs). and then he blends in melodrama and takes an unrestrained dive into surreal nightmare horror (hazy and almost devoid of color) to flex as hard as possible. love the structure being split between a comforting vibrant hangout story and…
