A more daft film I don't think I've seen. Young journalist and her boss is inviting to interview Alfred Moretti, a self imposed retired pop star (the worlds biggest allegedly) coming out of silence to release the worlds best new album played by John Malkovich. If you can believe he is the worlds greatest pop/rock star - laughable. But then Kanye West does exist.
Turns out the two journalists (and other invited guests) are being led into a cult compound…
Espionage thriller based around a married couple - plenty of twists and turns. Basic premise is about this married couple, exploring interpersonal relationships and groups of people lying to each other - can you have a relationship based on lies and it still be classed as healthy?
Was harmless and entertaining enough. Won't be left thinking about it, short... okay.
Watched alone at the cinema, cinema one third full. Monday morning.
The trailer for this advertises it with words such as seductive, spiky and sexy - so the soundtrack opening credits (think of the table scene in When Harry met Sally) was no surprise.
It's a film about dominance, submission & power and the hidden power of desire and forbidden attraction.... the musical soundtrack was brilliant, the plot line a bit ropey - it just trails off at the close and ends with a whimper (insert your own joke there).
